I’ve gone on a few trail building trips with the environmental non-profit organization, Tuleyome, and one of the projects I’ve recently had the pleasure of documenting is their work on the Valley Vista trail out in Capay Valley. We were beginning work on a new .75 mile trail, and started the venture by way of ground-truthing, which is a process where a trail is mapped via the survey of the lands topography. Once we had our maps made, it was time to traverse through the space. Descending up and down the golden hills, whacking through bush, and double-backing to see what other paths can be taken, we were out in the in the wild making our best judgement towards building a trail that is safe, beautiful, and, above all, accessible.
